Europe - Current Programs
France
The collaboration with AgroSup Dijon has changed over the years as the school has transformed into a major research institution. In recent years, the International Programs in Agriculture have hosted students in AgroSup Dijon's Masters of Equine Science and Business during the spring, for three weeks of lectures and tours (with internships for the French students possible). CAFE faculty members have also provided lectures for the program in France. There are some second-year students from AgroSup Dijon for their international internship (which lasts for six months), and a few of those students stay on at UK for MS programs in departments within the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Additional opportunities exist for faculty exchanges through sabbatical leaves and other arrangements that involve the exchange of faculty, students, and interns.
Serbia
In 2005, the University of Kentucky began a porject funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide technical assistance to the extension system in Serbia. The project focuses on rural economic development and farm management - specifically how the Extension Service can be a catalyst for business development and growth.
